Patient and Public Participation programme

Midlands and Lancashire CSU is commissioned by NHS England to help build expertise and capability in support of the participation agenda.

The CSU was one of five selected to pioneer new approaches to engagement through projects funded for two years across England, under NHS England’s CSU Field Force Programme.

Its aim is to provide bespoke engagement support for Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and NHS England Sub-Regions (formerly known as Area Teams) across England.

Involvement
will also target areas of need, by identifying, speaking and listening to seldom-heard groups, with the goal of improving health outcomes, especially in areas that need it most.

Involvement
offers:

  • Professionals and lay experts - capability and capacity, at scale, as well as support in the work you do and access to regionally-based networks to share good practice and experiences
  • Patients and public – clear opportunities to get involved in health and care decision making, easy-to-use information and access to professionals and organisations for advice

By March 2015, the project is expected to be a sustainable programme that stands on its own two feet.

Involvement
will be an invaluable resource for you in your job. It will strive to showcase innovation and good practice in engagement, while promoting your good work and providing quality tools and guidance. It will also nurture opportunities to reach patients and public and host an interconnected web of organisations, including the charity, voluntary and community and public sector.
