Community engagement is key for diabetes research

"Since this local engagement programme started, the numbers of participants taking part in studies has significantly increased. One study that has seen a significant increase is the DARE study, a database of patients with diabetes who are interested in participating in research. 4,000 people locally are now on the database" This method of engagement with harder to reach communities is now spreading to other specialties.
