Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) buy or commission healthcare services in a particular geographical area. Each has member GP practices across its area and many of these have their own patient participation groups (PPGs), made up of registered patients practice.
PPGs are practice-based and independent from CCGs. They work together in partnership with the GP practice to represent patients’ views and help improve services provided by the practice. PPG meetings are usually chaired by a patient and supported by the practice manager, GP or practice nurse.
Many CCGs are working to establish wider groups where membership will include the chair of each PPG in their geographical location.
Contact your local GP practice to find out if it has a PPG.
